[top]Overview

Solar astroimaging is when you take photos or videos of the sun. You must have a proper filter installed on the scope or high-focal length camera lens before attempting to do this.

[top]Equipment needed

For a setup on a normal scope you can either use the piggyback method, prime focus method, or afocal method. You must have a solar filter such as this installed at all times. You can also buy special Ha scopes (not Ha filters) such as this one to get more detailed images.

[top]Software method used

Generally, Solar imagers use Registax (if Registax 6 does not work, try Registax 5).
