Default Good places to observe near Leavenworth, WA?

What are convenient observation spots near Leavenworth, WA?

I'm looking for a nice place reachable by car that is not far from the town and that has a good broad view of the sky.

By virtue of Google Earth that lets you overlay LP map and see steet/ground view to get the idea of what horizons are going to be like, I found this spot:
    +47° 11' 16.56", -120° 44' 27.41"

It is only minutes away from I-90 which takes you to Seattle quick and easy. It is in blue LP zone and the only light dome is from Cle Elum in the West. It is on nice paved asphalt road. Horizon is not obstructed in any direction.

It is perfect for quick one night get aways from Seattle area. Much better skies and horizon than at Rattlesnake lake - well worth extra 40 minutes of driving time.

Here's astronomy forecast for the observation spot nearby:

It looks like undeveloped housing community to me. I set up on a public road that leads to a dead end. I'm on public land, yet there is no traffic on the road because it leads to nowhere.

I am planning on heading out to Leavenworth this weekend in hopes for some clear skies Sat night. Other than this spot above, does anyone know of any good campgrounds that are well suited for star gazing?

I've found what look to be good parks for viewing, but Washington closes them 1/2 hour after sunset. It's a sad state that forces you to setup along side a dark road. I tried getting the state to allow me to setup in a clearcut area north of Sultan and they told that even though it was public land I would have to setup along side the road.

Depends on what you call close to Leavenworth

Sun Lakes State Park under 2 hours on Highway 2 has cabins that can be rented in a "blue" Level 2 sky area -- one group in Western WA does two parties a year there.
