| Hello Group, Has any one here in this group who uses Demon (Turnpike) in the UK to collect Newsgroups, especially "alt. binaries. Pictures. Astro." experienced any difficulties in downloading the Astro images recently? I have not received any pictures from the group for over 3 weeks. Demon tell me their technicians are working on the problem but I am not so sure! Thanks, jpd -- John Davies |

| Wasn't it John Davies who wrote: Since the outage started, no new binary messages seem to have appeared on any binaries newsgroups. The non-binary newsgroups seem to now be functioning normally, but messages that were lost during the outage have not been recovered. Old messages on binaries newsgroups, from before the outages started, are still unexpired and retrievable, which is a bit odd, since I thought that Demon used to expire binaries newsgroups messages after 3 or 4 days. A small number of non-binary messages snuck though on some binaries newsgroups between 29 Sep and 2 Oct, but there's been no actual binaries on any group that I've looked at since 17 Sep, and no posts at all on binaries groups since 2 Oct. Currently, Demon only hold 20 messages on alt.binaries.pictures.astro, dated between 9 Sep and 17 Sep. The last of those messages being from yourself asking much the same question then as you're asking now. -- Mike Williams Gentleman of Leisure |
