    Default Upgrading telescopes

    Hi Everyone,
Maybe a silly question but is it possible just to buy the top bit of a
telescope as I have a good tripod and in the future obviously an
upgrade would be that bit less costly?
    I currently have a Skyhawk 1145.
Thanks in advance for any info - Dave B

Look for the letters OTA in ads, specs or price lists which means 'Optical
    Tube Assembly'.

Try looking at something like the skywatcher pro series and look for
the OTA (optical tube assembly), you will also find others like Meade
or Celestron selling OTA only, but I find it confusing that you see
something like the 11" C11 costing more that the one mounted on the AS
    mount.
