    Default A clear night......but

After so many weeks of cloud, we have a really clear night out there -
totally ruined by idiots throwing smoke and powder into the sky. When
    will they ever learn?

Not only the fireworks for me, some idiot store here switched on a sweeping
skybeam last night, so that's my eastern half of the sky gone! And I've got
Manchester airport to the northwest - arrggh.

If I remember correctly, they did this on the same date last year as
    well..........

    I feel guilty...crystal clear skies, no fireworks and I haven't bought a
telescope yet...sellotaping my binoculars to my camera tripod wasn't quite
    the same.

I know, and the ironic thing is that so many of Guy Fawkes' aims have now
been achieved - Catholics are enfranchised, the old parliament building has
been destroyed, and James the First and Sixth is dead!

Thus spake Timelord unto the assembled multitudes:

Luxury. Round my way, November 5th seems to last about 2 weeks and people
seem free to choose when they'll hold their firework parties. I thought
the law now forbade the use of domestic fireworks except on designated
dates such as Nov 5th and Dec 31st?

Hah! You don't know how lucky your are.

Round here, Bonfire Night lasts all year and if you don't have a party
yourself, they even come around to your house and let large rockets off in
    your front room.

And then charge you for it.

And they force dogs and young children to watch by pinning their eyelids
    open with tape.

    ;o)

    Cheers,
    Jim

Actually, Pythonequeness aside, the bit above is true and rather annoying.
"Oh, I've bought a car! Let's let some large fireworks off until 11pm with
blatant disregard for everybody else", "Oh look, the new series of Police,
Camera, Action is on telly! Let's let some..."

    You get the picture.

On sunday morning I had to go and pick up bits of firework from our garden
and off of the cars... I'm sure burnt powder can't be good for paintwork?

    Cheers,
    Jim
