    Default 80, 90 mm refractors

looking for one of these for Christmas for a very keen 8 year old. He
is a saturn freak so short tubes are out. Would prefer alt az mount.
the choice seems to be evostar 90 as advertised here
http://www.scsastro.co.uk/it080018.htm or vixen porta 80 here:
    http://www.vixen.uk.com/acatalog/Porta_Telescopes.html. Any ccomment on
    either scope?

    Try http://www.warehouseexpress.co.uk/

    'sabit cheaper.

They've always been realiable when I've dealt with them too. He might want
to reconsider the alt-az route. Even roughly polar aligned scopes are easier
to to track moving celestial objects than alt az mounted scopes. Anyone
should be able to roughly align with the north star with a little practice.
A local club or NG participant should be able to help here.

    Regards

    Chris

How averse are you to goto? Costco are currently selling the Celestron
    NexStar 80GTL (80mm f/11) for under £120.

See http://www.celestron.com/support/faq_80gtl.htm for more info about the
    scope.
