It's a shame you couldn't be put name captions to the many faces
Maurice. The names may be (slightly) familiar to many. But the faces
are not without a little help.

BTW: What was the beer like? I've forgotten what British beer tastes
    like.

Natterjack Toad (I gather that's Nick Hewitt's choice). Delicious.
I've posted my own pictures at

I presume it gets its name from an essential ingredient?
Hang on! I thought the Natterjack Toad was an endangered species?

Thanks Jonathon. Great website. I made my way swiftly to the
instruments section (as is my wont) and had a good poke about. The
historical member's observatories list caught my eye.
I liked the account of the 1940 railway embankment observatory with
trains passing every three minutes. Apparently it became more usable
as result of wartime restrictions on streetlighting and trains passing
benefically and simultaneously in opposing directions. Allowing longer
periods between ruinous vibration. Ah! The good old days!

BTW: Who's this character who uses a perfectly good dome as a
    workshop? Breaks yer 'art dunnit?

Isn't that just the usual <alt> tag, which should work in any browser -
including those that don't show images?
I didn't notice it the first time, though. Nice page and site, BTW.
Do you intend going to the Isle of Man meeting?
