    Default A great choice

I have the Orion branded version, the Atlas, and absolutely love it...a first rate piece of gear. You get 18-20kg payload capacity (or more if you are daring), excellent GoTo and tracking, long-proven performance reliability, and as a bonus the ability to use EQMOD control--a totally rocking software/freeware enhancement that can let you do everything with a game controller. The mount is easily upgraded with aftermarket and home-made tweaks (I like the ADM "D" dual saddle) and virtually indestructible in normal use. Highly recommended.

    Declan--

I bought the "Orion version" this morning. I will post my experiences with it as soon it gets set up. (Wonder where it is? I ordered four HOURS ago!)

I was wondering Brian, could I get a dovetail fitted so I could set my cpc800 on this mount? Is that possible to do?

Dont' forget the Orion Atlas EQ-G, Orion's version of the Sky Watcher EQ6 Pro.

Check stores in your area the price may be better for the EQ-G.

I don't see why not, some after market dovetails attach to the forward and aft collars although I believe there are generally dedicated holes for them. Not knowing the CPCs at all I do not know what your tube looks like compared to my C925. I would check with Anthony at ADM Accessories, he does awesome work for very reasonable prices and will answer any of your questions. Again, highly recommended.

My only one dealer in Ireland is a Celestron dealer. There are no other astronomy shops in this country. I am limited to buying on the net for most of my gear(hence my buy in Canada recently) First Light Optics do ship to Ireland from England..so that is my first hurdle out of the way. They don't do Orion product, but I do like the reviews I have been reading about the Pro Syncan mount so far.
    Thanks for all the inputs....

You can always look into the used market and save some money. I've bought two of my scopes, an EQ-6 Pro, several eyepieces through the online sites. Never had a problem. (Knock on wood!)

    Good choice!

My very first astronomy purchase included an EQ6-Pro. I have not regretted it one bit. It has performed flawlessly from the very first day. It has handled any scope I've cared to mount on it. Here is a photo of it supporting a 6 inch refractor with a 3 inch refractor as a finder in preparation for a night of doubles.
