Default eliminating ST4 guide cable, converting to ASCOM guiding

I have seen quite a few write ups with the main objective being the elimination of the ST4 cable, most recently one tutorial by Dylan O'connell where he demonstrates blowing up the ST4 cable with fire. The cable that connects to the mini But, as in other tutorials, he doesn't follow up clearly enough to explain the revised plumbing, if any at all, other than entering ASCOM in the PHD2 configuration section. My CEM60EC has two ports side by side, a guide ST4 port and a RS232 port. I figured I would remove the ST4 cable and then plug one end of my serial adaptor USB cable into the mount's RS232 port and the other end of the cable into the laptop USB port. Is that how the revised cabling is now arranged?

Thank you Kathy. Finally, an affirmative response. When I tried to pose this in a couple Yahoo Group sites I was met by a whole new crappy format. Early last year I stepped away from imaging out of frustration, mainly because of guiding issues and then decided to take another approach by rechecking all my PHD2 values. Low and behold I discovered I entered the wrong guide camera pixel size in PHD2 and I did that a long time ago. I thought I owned a QHY5L II, but in reality I have the QHY5-II. The former pixel size is 3.75 while the latter is 5.60. I don't know if this correction will be the ultimate fix, but it should improve matters I hope.
