    Default Lx-70 new mount :)

I get my first equatorial mount today! And of course we're expecting thunder storms. Been clear sky's leading up to UPS telling me it will arrive today. Either way im super excited to set it up and tinker with it. Any suggestions? I wish I ordered the polar alignment scope, and dual axis motors. Hoping they continue to have them in stock until im ready to order. Just FYI the lx-85 polar scope does fit the lx-70. Just need to get the motors before they are no longer avaiable. But I did hear about simple dream eq5 system that's interchangeable. https://sites.google.com/view/astro-...eq5?authuser=0

Any comments on that system would be helpful. I'll stop rambling now. I'm super excited for this mount though!

The motors are good and sturdy but not as fast as the big name manufacturers, they will do well though.

You got the lx-70? It's a super solid mount. But im coming from a pretty shaky setup so I have no real knowledge on higher end equipment. Yeah sucks to see HS sold out of the dual axis motors I should have ordered them and a polar scope all at once.

Oh ok. Id there a better dual axis motor system for my lx-70? In the states? Because I feel like you and I have touched on this subject prior to this one. If I remember correctly the other systems were out of state? By the way thanks for the quick response.

The Skywatcher goto kit is available from UK, there are dual axis motors available through Meade for this mount though no goto.
The only problem with the LX-70 mount is the body is different from other EQ-4 mounts so you will have to check if the motors will attach/ align before buying them.
I would order through Meade in this case or find someone (review) that has actually used the Synta motors on their LX-70 mount.

There are a lot of new LX70 owners around here suddenly. Can't imagine why

Mine showed up yesterday, with the dual motor kit and the polar scope. I guess you could say this is my first serious EQ mount, I used to have an EQ2, I realize now that doesn't count. I was actually surprised at the size of it.
