Default Which Wireless Game Pad for Mount?

    My current setup is:
    SW EQ6 Mount
    SW 80mm Scope
    Canon T21 Camera
    ZWo ASI120 Guide Camera
    Anker Power Hub

I image indoors so all of above runs via USB Power Hub to Laptop. I also use my hand controller (indoors) hooked to laptop running Stellarium and BYEOS.

I would like to use a wireless game pad (at the scope) for moving the mount when needed. I already have a PS3 wireless pad but assume that I cannot use that one due to not having a receiver? So am wondering which pads are recommended. Also, how is the game pad configured to talk to the mount? And, does the receiver get connected to power hub or directly to laptop? I assume that doesn't matter but want to make sure.

Or can you only use a game pad IF you have EQMOD?

P.S. - Please do not recommend getting EQMOD. I will be getting that in the future but for now, am still getting used to everything else.

John, you might shoot a PM to Dean (headdown) and inquire. He has mentioned the use of a game pad in other threads.

That's all I've got for you.

I have been using a Logitech but it has an odd quirk.

I have to remember to unplug and replug the little thingy that plugs into the usb port .... ~Ding Dong.... Dong Ding~ .... BEFORE plugging in the usb hub that the gear is plugged into. Otherwise the gamepad is not responsive.

If I remember to do that no problems for the rest of the night.

What can I say... my rig has personality

I have an Xbox One "Special Edition Dusk Shadow" wireless controller talking to the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows. The adapter is connected to the USB hub at my NEQ-6. It works with both Celestron software and EQMOD/ASCOM. I also see there is a "Mayflash Wireless PS3 Controller to PC USB Adapter" on Amazon that would work with the PS3 controller that you already have.

I am not sure how you you plan to control your EQ6 without ASCOM/EQMOD though. Hope this helps.
