Default iOptron MiniTower Error RA Motor drive Faulty and quality of iOptron mounts

I have a MiniTower refurbished edition purchased last month, unfortunately my Mount's R.A. motor is Bad and tested by switching RA and DEC and found motor is only faulty, as also confirmed by iOptron support and they told me to buy a new motor and replace by myself.

My Question is, whether replacing this motor will work work fine in future and there will be no issue further and what if it burnt frequently.
Should I go for buying RA motor from iOptron again as this cost me too much to be delivered in my country out of USA considering shipping and Custom duty fee.

I also read that iOptron has the same error very frequently and many many user suffers a lot.CAM00650.jpg

    Hi Vijay,
If you replace the RA motor I'm sure you will be fine. I'm the service tech for the New Zealand ioptron dealers and have found these mounts to be in fact very reliable. I personally have two of these mounts , the oldest being nearly 7 years now and it has been operating all this time without any problems at all. . The other one is a little newer but that also has been very reliable. The secret in keeping these little motors going is the make very sure you balance correctly , especially in RA.. This is most important .. Use the "shorten the leg trick" for RA balancing and you will be fine.. I think I have explained this before on here.
    Cheers

Thanks a lot for your reply Astronewb.
I will buy this motor and replace it myself and hope it will not difficult to install it myself.
Personally when I used this mount for the first time, I liked it's interface and options very much and better than my existing already used my old Celestron AVX mount.
may be I used wrong weight combination to do so, one side i Put my MAK 180PRO around 9KG wight (within 25 lbs claimed) and on counter part I put 4.5 KG weight extreem end. I was not sure how to balance this being alt+az, I operated eq mount celestron avx very well.

Actually Vijay I'm not astronewb. If you re-read what I said you will see I'm a service tech for the New Zealand ioptron dealers . Just thought I would jump in and give you some advice stemming from my experience with these mounts. I've also written a few articles about modding these mounts and you will find these in the ioptron section of this forum. If you have a spare moment you might want to take a look.
    Cheers
    Graham.

    Vijay.
I have read your posting on another forum and you stated that you have been using AA batteries to power this mount.
To be honest they are a no no and as they have proved to create all these sorts of problems and in my advice should be avoided.. I use a jump starter and no problems have ever resulted from its use.. Get yourself a good power supply first and see what happens .
    Cheers
