Default ATTN Meade SuperWedge owners, a few q's

When I picked up my SuperWedge recently, it did not have the compass that fits in the central knob. I got one from Meade, its great, however ehrn I set it in position, the pointer turns about 40 degrees.....I know that means something is magnetic on or in the wedge, I just cant find it....Any clues?

    Andy,

I have the Meade UltraWedge, basically find the compass is bit cheesy, low grade few steps above cracker box compass. I use miltary one I have laying around and just eyeball it, the meade compass is in the hole more or less for deco purposes on my own setup. Once I am set up in area regularly I use landmarks in distance remember cardinal points. Mine never seems to point anywhere near north. Always seems to hang up.
