Default If You Could Have Only One Of The Eyepieces That You Own, Which Would It Be?

My budget for this hobby is very low. Thus, the eyepieces I have owned are the Svbony aspheric, Ebay Gold Ring/Orion or Svbony Expanse, Agena SWA, and GSO Superview. If I could have only one of these eyepieces, it would be the GSO Superview 20mm with a 2x barlow. It works very well with my 120mm f/8 refractor. It has a 70 degree field of view, and 18mm of eye relief with no blackouts. Very little distortion at the edge, which you have to look for.

That is a very hard question... at the moment I would say my Edmunds 12.5mm triplet

Since I'm too new at this game to know any better, I'll pick my Celestron 8x24 zoom EP as offering the most 'versatility'.

I use my HyperFlex zoom lens mostly. 2 star alignment is more swift going from 21.5mm to 7.2mm with a flick of the wrist!

I would keep my Panoptic 27mm. What a sweet image it gives! It has a 68 degree AFOV and is beautifully clear from edge to edge. Even without a coma corrector, the image is moderately clear at the edges in my f/4 Newt. With the coma corrector, it is truly gorgeous.

Any time I want to impress the muggles, I give them their first view through the Pan 27. The inevitable reaction is "WOW!!!".

I'd probably go for my 17mm Type 4 Nagler - nice ultrawide 82 degree AFOV, and great eye relief.

Wait... Who is claiming the rest of my eyepieces?

I'd probably pick my 18mm KK ortho, kick them soundly in the knee, grab my eyepiece case and run like hell.

Default Re: If You Could Have Only One Of The Eyepieces That You Own, Which Would It Be?

    Yep, all of the above!

All great choices for different reasons (and of course, that is why most of us have more than one eyepiece!). Scarily, I own (or have used) most of the above: I think my Williams 7.5-22.5 zoom is very similar to the Hyperflex, I picked up a freebie Celestron zoom, the GSO Superviews are generally excellent value for money, the KK18 is beautifully clear, the Pan 27 is a lovely eyepiece for wide-field and seems to work well in just about any scope... I haven't seen the Edmunds 12.5: I assume it is some sort of Kelner Gabby: very sharp with great light transmission but narrow FOV? The 17 Nagler T4 sounds great too!

If I had to choose, I guess I would keep my 13mm Nagler T6: same FOV as the 18mm Radian (wider than the KK18), very sharp and contrasty to the edge in every scope I own from f5 dob to f12 Mak, very light-weight and small - so no balance problems, and enough magnification to give lovely planetary views, not to mention picking up heaps of DSO's. The eye-relief isn't brilliant, but it just makes it if I have my glasses on, and no kidney-beaning, unlike my 9mm Nagler T1 (anyone want a very cheap 9mm Nagler? Great paper-weight or stocking filler! ).

But fortunately I don't have to choose!
