    Default orion st 120



    hey guys I'm looking for individuals who has a orion st 120 that put a aftermarket focuser on there OTA. The one that's currently on the OTA isn't very good so I wanted some opinion on which dual speed to get I was thinking GSO but just wanted to know.

    No ST120, but I just put a GSO focuser on my Infinity 80 (Same as ST80). I am very happy with these, between it and the dob I have two GSO dual speed focusers and very satisfied with how they operate. I have a third on the way for the long frac.
    Telescopes: 10" SkyLine Dobsonian, Celestron Nextar GT90, Meade Infinity 80
    EP: The Five Fingers of Doom: 5.5mm, 8.8mm, 14mm, 20mm, 24mm Meade 5000 UWA's
    20mm, 26mm, 32mm, 40mm Meade 4000 Plossls, 30mm, 20mm, 15mm GSO Superview, Orion Expanse, Various others.
    Binocs: 15x70 Celestron Skymaster, 10x50 Levenhuk Karma Pro, 10x42 Bushnell, 8x42 Sans & Streiffe

    I've successfully modified two ST80's and an ST102. I recommend the upgrade with a GSO. There are others but I don't know how compatible they are with Synta OTA's.

    It depends on your budget. Under $200 GSO focusers are the only good option. Moonlite and Feather Touch are better and more expensive options.

    I had Orion ST120 for a while. The stock rack and pinion is not that bad if you re-grease it and adjust the tension, GSO is definitely nicer tough.

    You have two options: 96.6mm

    I would go with 96.6mm since it compatible with more scopes, in case you get a different scope down the road.

    What Bigz said. I had one of the 96.6 on my 120 and swapped it over to the 150 when I acquired it. You can't go wrong with the GSO units.
