    Default orion st 120

hey guys I'm looking for individuals who has a orion st 120 that put a aftermarket focuser on there OTA. The one that's currently on the OTA isn't very good so I wanted some opinion on which dual speed to get I was thinking GSO but just wanted to know.

No ST120, but I just put a GSO focuser on my Infinity 80 (Same as ST80). I am very happy with these, between it and the dob I have two GSO dual speed focusers and very satisfied with how they operate. I have a third on the way for the long frac.

I've successfully modified two ST80's and an ST102. I recommend the upgrade with a GSO. There are others but I don't know how compatible they are with Synta OTA's.

It depends on your budget. Under $200 GSO focusers are the only good option. Moonlite and Feather Touch are better and more expensive options.

I had Orion ST120 for a while. The stock rack and pinion is not that bad if you re-grease it and adjust the tension, GSO is definitely nicer tough.

    You have two options: 96.6mm
    https://agenaastro.com/gso-crayford-...peed-96mm.html

    and 112.5mm

    https://agenaastro.com/gso-crayford-...eed-112mm.html

I would go with 96.6mm since it compatible with more scopes, in case you get a different scope down the road.

What Bigz said. I had one of the 96.6 on my 120 and swapped it over to the 150 when I acquired it. You can't go wrong with the GSO units.

I acquired a SkyWatcher ST 150 some time back and put the GSO 96 on it, and the 120 on the shelf temporarily.
