Default Anyone waiting for the clouds to clear on the East Coast, I apologize

    It's me. I confess.
I had decided to pull the trigger on an Apertura AD8 dobsonian. And after making that decision, getting the confirmation, and waiting for the UPS truck, High Point called me to tell me they goofed, they are out of them, and they wouldn't be back until May.
As a positive point for them, they are offering some nice make-up deals, including the 10" at a discounted price, but it really seemed like it would be too big - one of the main reasons to go to a Dob is ease of setup and transport, so I don't want to go for the good deal but end up in the same usability bind I am trying to move away from.
Thanks to Don Alvarez, I learned that the Skyline series are back at Orion, and that they are the same GSO scope! So, I just ordered that instead! I believe the rules are that the automatic cloud cover sentence is to be served consecutively, not concurrently, even though it's just a replacement of one order with another. So, my apologies folks. We're looking at more than an additional week of complete coverage...
Funny, it's the first big order I place with Orion. I heard they have a reputation for very good customer service. I hope that gets better than the initial impression, the lady I spoke with was kind of cold and a bit annoyed I was doing business with them... Maybe it's just one of those Tuesdays. I also attempted to confirm that these were GSO made, and she got very defensive and told me that information is "clarified" I presume she meant classified, but who knows, maybe it's just very, very clear to her
So, here we go again. I'm (again) excited about my new scope. Hope something doesn't happen with this one too....
Properly collimated cornea-lens-vitreous optical apparatus, projecting on retinal sensor slightly limited by deuteranomaly, feeding through stock optic nerves into functional primary cortex, processed through frequently misfiring and buggy integrative cortex.
Other instruments: Skyline 8" Dobsonian; Celestron Omni XLT 120 w upgraded focuser and diagonal on Meade LX70 mount; Oberwerk 25x100, P-Mount; Celestron SkyMaster 8x56. Main EPs: ES 82º 24mm, Meade UWA 14mm, ES 82º 11mm, Meade HD-60 6.5mm and 4.5mm. Filters: UHC, 13%, blue. Finders: RACI, Telrad, RDF, reticle.

Probably the cause for all of the weather coming from the Pacific over the Pacific Northwest states and on eastward towards the east coast. Thanks for the clouds.....

I purchased a ZWOASI1600mm Pro with FW and filters recently. I'm sure I assisted 'rocdoc' with guaranteeing the weather conditions don't get much better any time soon.

Congrats on the new scope Rocdoc! Orion does not make stuff, they just put there logo on, but they surely don't want to admit that.

    There made in China

    Guan Sheng Optical

Don't know why that would be 'clarified' information, it is pretty well known.

So youre the one that brought this bout of horrible cloud cover! I thought it was just because I took my XT8 out the other night and the cloud gods had forgot about that one!

Actually Orion keeps their brand off the SkyLines, which is probably why they won't give that information out, same as they won't tell you who manufactured a Meade or Celestron they also happen to sell. The SkyLine telescopes actually belong to Optronic, which is Orion's parent company. Still, they might be a little hurt you're not buying something with an Orion logo on it.
