A nice pair of normal binoculars is, IMHO, required.

I've not been impressed with the need for binocular telescopes - but I've only tried a pair of 10 inchers and 12.5 inchers. Nice, but not needed for my eyes.

I am of the opinion that we should all strive to some day get a good look through a good sized and high-quality apochromatic refractor. Not sure we should all buy one, but we should at least get a look.

But back to the OP? If you are happy with what you've got, you've got the right stuff. No one else's opinion really matters - it is your opinion which is important.

    Hello Alec,

yes and no. The better way is to ask a dedicated manufacturer to buy two scopes you'd like, and to mate them into the binocular telescope, like here BINOPTIC

You can also do an understatement with Docter Docter Aspectem 80/500 ED 30.5x Standard Binocular-57221 , or with MiyauMiyau Miyauchi

Very well done Alec, JG has a point Binos on a tripod using both eyes and another 4" is a novel idea for telescopic binos, but the mak cass. is undoubtedly the best one of all your scopes, IMHO . Someday, I just might have one in a domed observatory.

well, if you dont like the banana slicer, you may like binoviewers with your alt/az mount- they pop up rather cheaply at times. lunar viewing with these is a whole new world

If two eyes are better than one as JG suggests, and lunar viewing is enhanced are these things worth considering?
The obvious downside is the need to have a pair of identical eyepieces. Do either of you have any experience with these for general DSO work? Would they be usable any scope?

It is my opinion that one truly interested in the sky can never have enough telescopes (or bino's or lenses) - if you see a scope you want and doesn't require a mortgage, get creative find a "reason" get it
