    I think what I have is a celestron counter weight rail and weight with the adapter, maybe I should replace that with a vixen rail which is wider?

    For imaging you want some clamp rings - only. You have to hold the tube/camera-imager as rock solid as possible. You can see my 'DIY' solution in my user image gallery.
