Default 10i build' a scope eyepieces??

I am currently doing the "Build a Scope" feature on telescopes.com with a Orion 10i. Instead of the stock eyepieces I think I am going to grab these 10mm, 17mm & 25mm HighLight Plossl Eyepiece Set | Orion Telescopes

Does anyone have any insight on these pieces? Would they be a wise choice over the stock ep's. Also I get a big discount when buying Orion accessories when building a scope, so instead of 147.99, they are 117.99. Thanks alot for any input.

I presume the scope doesn't come with any eyepiece to start with? EP choices would depend in part on what you would like to observe, as well as other parameters. Some may suggest a Barlow or zoom EP. I'd like to suggest considering the 32-mm Q70 (or 25mm Q70) instead of the 1.25" 25mm. You may also want to push the high power end a bit more, maybe the 7.5 mm highlight Plossl instead of the 10 mm. See what others think.

You might want to look at the 9mm expanse for higher mag. It will give you a wider field of view than the plossl. Also as Antonino said, a low power 2" ep is a good option.

Derek makes a good point, and the Expanse eyepieces cost the same as the highlight Plossl. I have the 9mm and I like it.

Yeah, I am getting a orion Q70 38mm 2" eyepiece to go with it as well, and I think I will get the lower mag set for the same price, I think its the 7.5, 12.5, and 20 mm.

Heirwalker, I think you may have asked in another thread which is better, the XT10 or the Z10. If so, there was a thread on that four or five weeks ago in the Dobsonian Forum. You might want to take a look.
