    Default Meade 9mm Illumi Reticle

    Hi Guys,
Just bought a Meade 9mm Illuminated reticle but didn't realise it is supposed to plug into the control panels of the Meade Telescopes.
Can it be used via another power source and what would the power be, 3v,6v..??

These illuminated reticle eyepieces use a 3V LED. There is NO over-voltage protection in the circuit - anything more than 3VDC will destroy the LED...

I don't know if this is tip-positive, it is compatible with the (now discontinued) 909 APM, so looking at the aftermarket circuit diagram for the 909 clone might offer a clue.

    Definitely 3V...

    Update: 3VDC, 30ma, tip positive

I would just return it? Will the vendor take it back?

Got it off E Bay, so may have to resell it or find some power source.

Why not make your own power supply, a couple of rechargeable AAA batteries in series is all you need.
