    Default meade eyepieces { plossls }

    Hi guys , I was out last night doing some looking , and decided to compare some of my eyepieces . I mostly just have meade products . Anyway , I had the 8in. SC out for some quick views of the moon and orion . I let the scope cool down for a couple of hours on the deck as useual . The meade series 4000 plossls are very good eyepieces and i thought they were the BEST . But when i bought my new scope {used but new to me} I also bought a few of the series 5000s . MAN , you can really tell the difference inbetween them . I was using the series 5000s to start and was looking at the orion nebula to start , I then went to the moon and it was very bright indeed , this was done with the 32mm . I then switched to the 9mm , also series 5000 . New eyepieces get the most use initaly , at least with me . Anyway with the series 5000s everything seemed a lot brighter , not only with the moon but with the stars also . The view with the series 4000s is not as bright . What i am getting at is , if your thinking about buying a new eyepiece or two , and thinking about the meade products , the series 5000s are not that much more expensive than the 4000s . A lot of places have them on special right now and they are worth checking out . The eyecups all twist up for comfort while viewing , and the packageing is like none i have seen before . They come in velvet lined boxes with end caps for both ends of the eyepieces . The top cap also has a meade logo embossed into it . The boxes are very nicely constructed with the meade logo and size niceley displayed on the end of the box . That box is double packed in a second white box and that is just a plain cardboard package . I have to say , i was a little timid about buying another set of eyepieces from a company that is experinceing a LITTLE financial difficulties , But my hats off to meade . The new series 5000s are over the top as far as quality of work , and unsurpassed packageing . I have seen the deals around on the internet for a 3 pc. set of the 5000s in 1.25in. size with a 5.5,9 and 14mm for 149.99 and a 2in set 32mm and 40mm for 199.The field of view is 60 degrees and they have a 20mm of eye relief . They are fully multicoated and are a 5 element design , Just my 2 cents .....Thanks for listening and clear skys .

    Oh yea , one more thing . The box clearly says "made in china" ... I have gotten over the whole "made in china""made in the usa" thing . I dont really care where a product is made as long as it is of good or great quality ...... There is nothing worse in my opinion than buying something and thinking your getting a deal only to find out it is inferior quality .
