    Question GSO Telescope Eyepieces

Ok I may not be buying the Meade 4000 set as the GSO eyepieces seem to be a steal.

    Guan Sheng SUPERVIEW 68° 1. 25" and 2" eyepieces

    SV 15mm (4-el) and SV 20mm (5-el), 1.25" $45.00 AUD
    SV 30mm, SV 42mm and SV 50mm, 2".

All three 2" models are 5-element designs! $55.00 AUD

This is instead of the Meade 4000 Plossls that are around 52° apparent field of view.

Does apparent field of view make a big difference? Also the price is much better to get the GSOs separately (with filters etc and a case) than to buy the Meade or Celestron eyepiece kits.

Anyone have experiences with GSO SUPERVIEW eyepieces or even other GSO eyepieces?

... that is a phenomenal price Gus ... and yep, the Meade 4000 Supers are "standard Plossls" @ 52* afov IIRC ... whew ... 68* is quite a step ... especially at that price ...

... aren't GSOs and Zhumells the same manufacture?? ... hmm ... might have to look into that ...

At the present time there is no need for such an eyepiece. Some large eyepieces in that focal range do have the dual 1.25/2" barrels.
If at some point an eyepiece is made with an apparent field of view much greater than 100° then we may see a short focal length 2" eyepiece.

Some eyepieces have around 25mm of eye relief and for most people 15-20mm of eye relief is sufficient.
