I have a cheap bintel 42mm 2'' (gso re brand) i use on a 10'' f4.7, works great for what i need,i'm not much of an observer so i don't have the need to thrive for higher quality EP's. definitely have to get a 2'' in the kit even if one is a very casual observer .

i see you got the 18mm,good choice!

Like everyone else, I also have the ES 18mm, and I also have an Orion Q70 32mm. Both are great for the price.

Well I have no doubts about the ES 18mm now. The two eyepieces I use most are both 1.25 at 18mm and 25mm, both are plossls. All the input was great!

I have heard that 70-degree AFOV eyepieces (Orion Q70 and Antares W70) do not work well with Newtonians. That was certainly my experience with the Antares ones. The focal 'plane' is curved the wrong way for Newts. The visual effect is some pretty bad aberration around the edges of the FOV that even a coma corrector could not remove.

I used to have the Orion Q70s and they are exactly as you describe. Coma correctors can't fix curvature of field problems. Maybe the Q70s and W70s are better in an SCT or slow scope. I didn't bother trying them, not even for outreach events.

That's nice, thanks for your input. I never said those EPs were the best, just that I consider them great for the price. I interpreted his statement of not having one and what what does this mean as he didn't understand my ES 18mm shorthand, just trying to be helpful without undue elitism or snark. But, whatever floats your boat.
