Default SO... Did anyone get the Baader Q Turret set from Agena for X-Mas?

I didn't. I think I may just pick it up from my own pocket before sale ends. I'm looking for enablers to talk me into it.

Oh, do yourself a favor and get a couple! I've acquired 3. Two sets for my binoviewing pleasure and a 3rd for the astronomical grandchild.

They're like popcorn. One's not enough!

You use two turrets then? What's the weight on the whole package?

Actually I only use the turrets for mono viewing. Two turrets are too clumsy for binoviewing use, I find.

    Hello Don,

I don't like trurrets, so I don't have the Q-Turret, just the Abbe orthos 6mm and 10mm, which are very good.
Next to it I have the Q-Barlow, which is also good,
but even better is the apochromatized Baader VIP Barlow, designed by Dr. Pudenz from Zeiss,
who has also designed the overpriced ZAO orthos. So, the VIP is not necessarily cheap,
but it may be the best corrected Barlow money can buy.

I did not get one but would like to have one. I'm an enabler, so I strongly encourage you to pull the trigger.

    Yes, I did.....
Seriously, you can't beat the deal - add it up individually & the EP's alone will run you $316.
    + the 6 & 10mm BCO's are incredible ep's (yes, now I have a set of each)
    Consider yourself enabled....
    Moving on.......

I would but already got the set last year. I really like all the components including the turret. While observing from home I always use the turret with my fracs and SCT. The barlow is lightweight and of good quality. 2.25x/1.3x factors are quite handy. Although 1.3x factor works only with Orthos and Plossls.

EPs in the set worked superbly on all targets, whether planets or DSOs. The only limitation is 50 deg FOV (still larger than 40+ FOV of other orthos) and short ER, but that's where the turret comes handy.

The set is all metal construction, except the turret, which is plastic. On one hand I wish they would make a metal turret, but I do appreciate the light weight, which makes balancing easy even on a photo tripod. It holds well even after a year of use.

I ordered before the sale ran out and it is on the way. If nothing else, I will use this to drastically reduce my gear load for outreach. I won't use the Orthos, probably just load the Q turret with my Expanse or the Superviews and use those exclusively for that.

Any lightweight EPs up to 5-6 oz work fine. So far I used Vixen SLVs, Expanse, BST Planetary, BST Flat Field and bunch of different Plossls and Orthos.
