Default Sometimes, you just can't win.

Last Sunday, Sept. 30th, I placed an order with Agena Astro for a 12.5mm Kokusai Kohki 1.25" Fujiyama HD-OR Orthoscopic Eyepiece. I have the 18mm, and love it. I use it in everything from my little 60mm's all the way up to my 10". It's razor sharp to the edges with excellent color in everything from my 80mm f/15 Jason to the f/4.9 10" and everything in between. At least in the few chances I've had to use it this year

I wasn't too sure as to whether to get it, as I don't often have the spare coin for my favorite hobby, but with some coaxing from Bryan (bladekeeper), I had no problems hitting the "Buy" button

Of course, some positive comments from Frankie, Steven and Michael (SpyderwerX, sketrip and helicon64), I felt very justified and quite happy about my purchase. Thanks guys!!
BTW, you know you've been on this forum for a while when you know the persons name and associated on-line name without looking it up. I can even picture the associated avatars...

Anyways. Yesterday I looked at the tracking # on the USPS website, and it said it was here in Canada at the transfer depot or some such. I remembered from my 18mm, when it said that I got it next day. The box fit perfectly inside the mailbox, so I didn't even have to be home

So today I'm all excited, thinking when I get home, it'll be waiting for me. Just before lunch I check out the USPS website and see this:

    01.jpg

Wrongly directed? Okay... Now, this is not the fault of USPS; I know it's been passed off to Canada Post. But wrongly directed? I'm not even too sure what that means....
And I love the way Canada is spelled in all caps, like they're screaming it at me... Bad, evil Canada; how dare it even be there....

I've had this happen before; I'll probably see it Tues. or Wed. Monday is a holiday here; Canuck Thanksgiving. And I guess it doesn't matter, as this is my short-term CDS forecast:

    02.jpg

And even if it does arrive early next week, this is the long-term forecast....

    03.jpg

But I just wanted to have it today. Even if I couldn't use it, it would be nice just to compare it with the 18mm; the weight difference, maybe even the fit into various focusers and diagonals.... Even hoping for a clear break in the day to take a look at the daytime moon (now's a good time), and maybe even the Sun would cooperate and give me a spot.

Well, that's my rant/whine for the week. I'm just really bored, too....

All the best, and I hope you get some decent skies!

Man, that just sux! But I see the mail system there must not be any more competent than it is here. I once had a piece coming from Europe sit in customs in NY for over two weeks. I was getting worried that I may be receiving an official knock on the door.

Heck, all of the KK line is amazing. Well, the 4mm leaves a slight imprint on the cornea, but otherwise.... I hope it shows soon and you get a break in the weather along with its delivery. It's been tough everywhere this year I tell ya!

Dang, Mark. Awfully frustrating when you spend the day thinking warm fuzzy thoughts about the package waiting for you at home and you get home and...nuthin'.

More frustrating than trying to climb through a barbed wire fence wearing a fur coat and a Dolly Parton wig.

Hopefull the new glass shows up soon! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed and the fur coat in the closet!

Well, now I have something else to think about... Bryan, that is just too funny, albeit a scary mental image... I hope it shows soon too, thanx!

Frankie, you ain't kidding about the mail system... USPS gets it to the border, and I kid you not, 9 times out of 10.... I guess my 18mm was the one time

Yeah, and here I thought last year was bad, observing-wise. Are we all on the same boat that this year is so far even worse than last??

Bryan has those episodes from time to time. We usually leave him be and retrieve him the next day...either from a spot in the woods or from the authorities.

Last spring, I bought a yellow #8 filter, and it was "Out For Delivery" for 3 days after arriving at the local PO, lol! I was so disgusted. I had the post master desperately trying to find it, lol!

Just an update: It arrived today It was a simple matter of Canada Post figuring out where I live, I guess...

And like the 18mm, a nice piece. No nicks or imperfections, and I tried it out in my little 60mm after work on some cell phone towers about a 1/2 mile away. Razor sharp; could easily make out the wire connections on the junction boxes

Of course, I'm more curious for the night time view. It's supposed to be clear tonight, but below average transparency with average seeing. I'll give it a shot in my orange C80, but I won't expect much. I might as well; this is going to be the only even so-so night for a bit, according to the long term. Sigh. Ah well, just more time to contemplate perhaps getting the KK 6mm, there's still some left....

Have a good night and clear skies!
