Default First few eyepiece for my C8 6.3

Heya, i recently bought a used celestron c8 with asgt mount, i currently use a focal reducer 6.3, mostly gonna do deep space visual, i wanna get 1 or 2 eyepieces that should cover most of my need, along with a barlow x2 if needed, i cenntly have the stock 25mm eyepiece, what you guys would recommend me to get for deep space visual?

    Thanks

Congrats on the new scope! C8 is a great instrument.

I have but don't use 0.63 reducer. I believe it is not needed for visual. With 0.63 reducer you are forced to use EPs in shorter focal length, and many of them incorporate built-in barlow or Smith element. So, basically you add 4 glass elements with reducer in your optical path and then use EPs with more glass elements to compensate for that.

Three EPs would cover 90% of DSO observing:
    1) 30-36mm
    2) 18-20mm
    3) 13-15mm

If you let me know your budget and whether you observe with glasses I will recommend particular brands.

So far i had way better view on deep space with a focal reducer, however thats with a 25mm only, i have looked around for brands, from what ive heard, svbony is great for the price, if i could get something that does the job at this price, i could buy quite a lot more, but lets say 100$ to begin with, also been looking for uhc filter, for better view in light polluted area and better view on dso overall in dark places. Televue nebustar looks good.

    I dont wear glasses tho.

Celestron 25mm Plossl which came with scope is basic but not bad. To start your observing I would suggest to get a couple more Plossls: 32mm and 15mm. I would recommend Meade 4000 Plossls, they are on sale now (at least in US).

I would not recommend svbony. They are not EPs you would keep long term.

These couple of Plossls will get you started. In the mean time I would suggest to look for a good deals on Meade 5000 UWA, Explorer Scientific 68 and 82 degree series. These are good quality EPs which work well with C8, but they are over US $100 brand new. They typically go on sale around Christmas, and you can find them used close to or under $100 on eBay or Cloudy Nights and Astromart classifieds.

Nice their price is good, so that would be 15mm, 25 and 32, with the focal reducer, however would a barlow worth it? I heard they dont work with focal reducer, but still if i want to look at planet i would remove it.

I was looking for a good barlow to suggest and stumble on this deal.

I have this kit. I got it for much higher price couple of years ago. These are top quality EPs, they are killers on DSOs and planets. So scratch my Plossls suggestion. If you can afford to get this, you will be all set as far as EPs and barlows go, and you also get EP turret. I absolutely love it.

It sure looks neat, but ill pass for now :P
Ill get those 2 eyepiece from second post, will be enough for now. If meades eyepiece can fit the revolver, then i might just get the turret eventually and add another eyepiece

Sounds good. Meade Plossls will serve you well.

Start observing for now and if you would feel that you want something between 15mm and 25mm you could always pick Meade 20mm Plossl.
