I have a modern version, don't leave home without it. C8 is a scope everyone should have.

I've use mine with an FR6.3 (very seldom taken off, even for visual as it is a corrector as well as reducer - would rather use a good barlow and EP's if I need more power). Great scope - would never be without one - cooled and properly collimnated (I use Bob's Knobs) it is capable of producing amazing viewing, IMHO the FR just makes it better at the edges.

Yeah, as far as i know it should only be removed for planets viewing.

By the way, i am looking for a UHC, i know that the astronomik, lumicon and televie are the best, but are there cheaper brand that would be close to those?

Reducer, like barlow is just another link in the optic path which includes scope, diagonal, EP and observer eye. Part of mastering the scope is to learn when to use reducer or barlow and when not. It obviously depends on the type of targets and EPs available and observer preferences.

Lumicon and Astronomik would be my first recommendations for UHC filter. Less expensive but still of good quality are Orion Ultrablock and DGM NPB.

Congrats! This is a good quality filter. It will be useful on many types of nebulae.
