    One scope?? That's blasphemy!!

Actually, Nimitz, I admire that kind of self control. If I had practiced that a few more times in life I could have saved myself a lot of headaches.

    Hello all,

not counting the spotting scope to the astronomy telescopes, I am a monoscopist with just 1 scope.
Regarding the EPs kinds and types, I am a polyoculaire.
The reason is purely practical: I can store the EPs in 3 socks drawers, but the telescopes are simply too large, though.

    Thanks for the chuckle,

    JG

There is no future where I'm owning a scope ..... 1 scope and the right optically matched top quality EPs and I'm good ... 😬

As I recall he's limiting himself to one scope. Monoscopy is a virtue I cannot aspire to as I am a dedicated polyscopist.
After selling the scope to a planetarium I went to order the Dob and nobody had one. Ended up ordering directly from Orion and they said it was due to be shipped on 4 June. Gave me plenty of time to sell my SCt EPs and get my TVs inbound ....

The eye relief of the 9 & 12.5 is fairly adequate, and a barlow would preserve that, and at the same time double (or whatever the barlow may be) the magnification. Seeing as you have orthos and TeleVue gear already, I really recommend the TeleVue 2x, or the Baader 2.25x Q barlow. Wile I don't own one at the moment, the TV's I have owned simply disappeared in the view. I'm actually considering re-equipping myself with one.
Hadn't thought about a Barlow with the 2 KKs I already have ... Once I see how annoying (?) the 4mm ER is I may have to consider Barlow or maybe the 4.5mm Delite. I don't wear glasses but honestly I wasn't paying attention to ER when I saw the 4mm UO Ortho fir sale ....

Well the ER of an Orthoscopic is better than a Plossl.... It's 0.75 times the focal length of the former and 0.5 times on the latter.

Is there a difference between the TV powermate and 'regular ' Barlow? And is it worth the price difference

This can probably explain a little better than I could. Tele Vue Optics: Powermates

And an older discussion from elsewhere: https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/3...-vs-powermate/
