    Default Meade Series 5000 HD-60

I was thinking of trying this series in the 6.5mm length, as I'm a bit unhappy with my high mag pieces. Does anyone know if they work well in a reflector design? They are quite inexpensive and seem to have the ergonomics I tend to like. Any input would be much appreciated (along with alternate suggestions of course)
    Thanks

They will work pretty good in the Newt. Very similar with the X-Cel LXs and the Agena Dual EDs. I use a pair of the HD-60 25mms in my binoviewer for lower power. I have a few of the other focal lengths as well. They don't see a lot of use as I tend to favor my ES EPs, but they do see use in my refractors more than anything else.

I have the 18mm and 12mm they are great for the price. I have used them on both a Newt, SCT, and APO both with great views, f-5 to f-10. I use them for outreach and camera phone images.

I use them extensively on an Eclipseview 114 f/5 reflector with very good results. I have the whole set of eyepieces. With a 100mm f/8 refractor, I found them to give better resolution when viewing the Moon than my UO HD Orthos. I used them with my LX 70 6 inch f/12 Mak to view the major volcanoes on Mars a couple years ago.

Is there any commonality between these and the old Meade 5k Plossl?
    https://www.opticsplanet.com/meade-s...EaAuXAEALw_wcB

I notice on Meade's website they actually refer to the HD-60's as "Series 5000 Plössl Eyepiece " even though 6 element design and 60° FoV certainly suggest they are not, and I know the old 5k "plössls" were not either, they had a 5 element and 6 element design for the shortest focal length. On the surface, it might suggest they share a common heritage in regards to design, including their appearance.

No, they are of different design. HD-60s have fixed eye relief ~16mm, while for Series 5000 Plössl Eyepiece ER scales down with FL. They also have different range of FLs.
