Default KK Fujiyama - BCO - Takahashi: the Abbe orthos

    Hello all,

I have finally completed the range of these orthos f=5mm up to f=12.5mm,

KK Fujiyama BCO Takahashi Abbe orthos.jpg

As discussed elsewhere, the Takahashi and the KK Fujiyama Abbe orthos reveal the same concept and the same details of the lense cell,

Lens cells of Takahashi and Fujiyama Abbe orthos.jpg

and the multicoatings reflect also the same colors.

This range of the orthos covers on my 5" F/5 refractor the exit pupils of 1mm up to 2.5mm for the depp sky objects not requiring large fields of view.
The range of the larger exit pupils 2mm up to 5mm is covered for the most difficult deep sky objects primarirly by the Leitz Periplan eyepieces Becoming friendly with the Leitz Periplan GF eyepieces , and by the Leica HC Plan S Leica HC PLAN S 10x/22 (Br.) M, focusable, f=25mm Eyepiece, item #507807

    Thanks for reading,

    JG

Congrats on the new glass JG! I have a similar mix of BCO (6, 10, 18mm) and HD Orthos (4, 12.5, 25mm). My scopes go from F/5 to F/10, so I need wider range.

In ability to pull faint stuff both lines work nicely.

I wish they have wider range of BCOs, because I like the ergonomics better. I had to come out with home made eyeguard for 25mm HD Orthos to control the stray light; and will likely resell 4mm since I keep ramming my eyeball into the flat top.

    Beautiful set JG.
Been on the road a bit - did you finish off the KK/BCO shoot out?
Another question... is there any difference in performance between the KK & Tak and is the eye cup of the Takahashi worth $50 USD?

Congratulations on completing the range! These are great eyepieces!

That is exactly what I experienced too. I am glad that there still is a full orthoscopic eyepiece line.

Not yet, just the first terrestrial shoot out Fujiyama HD – OR 5mm side by with Baader BCO 6mm HT

I don't expect differences in performance, as the KK and Tak Abbes are evidently coming from one and the same manufacturing line, with just a different decoration.

What I am missing is an eyecup on the KK and the Baader's volcano.
As I have purchased the Tak 2nd hand in ex condition without signs of use, I have actually saved $70 USD, turning the eye cup into an item for free, plus return.
