    Default Vicious Cycle

So, you get new equipment, which invokes clouds curse. Then waiting for the clouds to go away you get bored, start looking at Astromart classifieds which leads to buying more stuff, which bring more clouds... and the vicious cycle keeps going. But I can't help it.

Anyway, here are two new (to me) EPs I recently picked. 20mm TV Plossl is included as a size reference.

    BST-SWA.jpg

BST planetary 7 mm - I was attracted by combination of low glass count (5 elements), comfortable viewing with glasses on (16mm ER, 58 deg FOV), compact size and small weight (~5 oz). All make it good candidate for my travel set with Onyx 80ED scope. Consensus on forums is that they are sharp EPs, but small FLs tend to flare on bright targets (Moon, Jupiter). Should not be an issue since I will be using it mostly for DSOs.

Meade 5000 SWA 16mm - main reasons EP cuteness and good price. I heard a lot of good things about this discontinued EP line and wanted to try it. The only concern at this point is very tight ER, seems even tighter than in ES68 16mm. Still, I appreciate 68 deg FOV and curious how it would compare in sharpness, contrast and transmittance to ES line.

If you have any experience with these EPs, I love to hear it, since it might be awhile before I will have a chance to test them. We are pummeled by a tropical storm right now which is only 3 mph short of been a hurricane.

Congrats on the new glass. I've gone full circle with eyepieces but I finally just pulled the trigger on a complete set of ES82s which I am really happy with. I am getting off the eyepiece merry go round. I just need to sort my scopes out and get off the scope merry go round. Anyway, congrats on the eyepieces - hope the sky is clear for you so you stay off the used market.

    cheers
