    Default High Point eyepiece?

    Hello,

Does anyone have any experience with high point eyepieces? I am buying a Celestron 6se, High Point Scientific is currently including a 12mm EP. I was planning to buy a 12mm Celestron x-cel. Is there a huge difference in quality?

    Thanks!

I would at least try the Highpoint first. It looks like a re-branded plossl made by GSO, which are generally well reviewed eyepieces.

The Highpoint eyepiece will be a 50° AFOV and the Celestron is a 60° AFOV.
With the longer focal length of your telescope either will work well.

The Celestron also will have more eye relief. But for many people that isn't an issue.
I have the 32mm High Point plossl and it is very good. I assume the 12mm would also be good. Used to own The Celestron X-cel LX 12, 18, and 25mm. The Celestron were very good and comfortable to look through. I sold them when I went to wider field eyepieces. But they worked really well in my mak and SCT.
