    Hello Mark,

    that's exactly the eyepiece!

The reticule is the so called photographic reticule to adjust the field size for imaging. The Leica bino microscopes have zoom behind the objective for the field size adjustement. Then the picture is taken through the other eyepiece (without reticule) in the binoviewer.
Hence, this reticule will be of no help for the astronomy, and you can put it on the eBay, or in the socks drawer,
    as you like.

    Best,

    JG

    Hello Mark,

just one add-on to the reticule.
Microscopes with the 3rd tube have the camera in the third tube. So, the reticule shows the field size of the camera sensor.
I am a poor boy, I hold the camera on the microscope eyepiece, my microscopes have no integrated cameras.

Would you like to have this reticle. I will send it to you free of charge if you desire. For your microscope work. Or for trade over there with one of your friends. I will have absolutely no use for it. Or if you know anyone in your circle who would like to have it I would gladly pass it on. Thanks again for your assistance and I do look forward to reporting on how this little gem works.

Thank you Mark, you are very generous.

I am not using the reticules in the eyepieces, even if I have several, and one eyepiece with a buildt in measurement reticule. I take it just when calibrating the field of view in the microscope, and then I lay it down on the table in front of the microscope objective.

The reticules are pretty expensive, and even more expensive are the reticules for the Leicas, https://us.vwr.com/store/product/685...a-microsystems, as everything is expensive with Leica.
So, on your place I'd put it for 50+ bucks on the eBay, fifty bucks are fifty bucks,
as in that classic joke by Makuser (Marshall), if I remember well.

    Best,

    JG

Will do. Heck if I get 50 bucks that makes this HC an even better deal. Thanks again.

I had a chance last night to put first light on my Leica HC.
I spent about 4 hours in the southern sky has it rolled across my front from about 11 to 3 a.m. . I begin with the HC on M42. I used M42 and the surrounding nebula for my targets inthis comparison.
    I used the 10x gf, 12.5x gf, tv22 pan, 14xw, 25mm kk ortho in my sw100ed scope.
I have never seen such a broad extension of nebulosity as I saw last night through the Leica HC. The only thing I can compare it with is some of the astrophotography that is posted with great billowing clouds of color. In my case last night there was no color but the billowing nebulosity was just as extensive as the AP. The farther away from the core the fainter and wispy gauze of dust in the nebula was well contrasted with the black sky behind it even to the faintest edges of the nebulosity. None of the other lenses could keep up. I will post the full report of my very productive evening later. But I wanted to give a quick note regarding this first light with my Leica HC/ Rolex. :-)

Hi JG. I was chatting with the folks a Leica and asked them about the numerical aperture of 25 which is the version that I have. You have the 22. Is this the Fov of the lense or the measure of the field stop, and how will this number relate to focal ratio of the lens...or does it relate?
