You to! Thanks for the tip again! It was a perfect timing to, they already run out of 25mm.

Thanks to the tip from a good friend here, behold my new "Edmund Optics" orthos! As I suspected the only Edmund Optics contribution was to buy them from Japan and place in EO branded boxes. I don't mind really. Fully multi-coated, made in Japan brand new orthos for $50 a piece? To bad they had only two on sale!

Here are unpacking pics. I have been clouded for 3 weeks had to entertain myself.

They look great! I'm pretty sure Fujiyama, Astro Hutech, Edmund Optics and others are made by Kokusai Kohki. I've just acquired a 5mm to make the set of 8 focal lengths.

I had a pair of Astro Hutech 12.5mm at one time, and I still have a pair of the 25mm for my bino.

I got first light through my new EPs on Saturday. I guess this time I paid my clouds fee before the purchase .

You know like certain EPs just fall in place with certain scopes? This night I have discovered a perfect match between 12.5mm Ortho and Celestron 150R F5 achro. I purchased these orthos with my slower scopes in mind and tried 12.5mm in 150R on impulse, mainly because bad seeing prevented me from testing it in 8" SCT. But, once I dropped it in to 150R it was love from the first sight.

The view was sharp (as expected) but also very pleasing. I managed to resolve more details in a couple of galaxies than with other EPs. To be fair I don't have any other EPs of the same FL. The closest are ES82 11mm on one side and Meade UWA 14mm on the other. So, it could be that 12.5mm (with 2.5mm exit pupil) is the sweet spot for this scope.

Anyway, the EP was great performer and felt natural. I was afraid that ~40 degree FOV would be too restrictive, but it was not the case. I also tried it on a couple of clusters and a double (I think , don't have my notes on me). Definitely a keeper. Can't wait to try it in my 5" APO.

I tried 25mm Ortho to. It was also sharp, but more detailed review has to wait because there were some eye placement issues. It has pretty long ER ~22mm, but comes without any eyeguard. Getting too close results in blackouts, hovering at optimal distance lets too much stray light in. I have ordered some eyeguards and will let you know how it performs once I get them.

Glad you like them so far. The 12.5 should have more throughput and better contrast than its neighbors, though.
