Galaxy Hunter's Creed - When you play whack-a-mole, sometimes you hit 'em on the head, sometimes you miss 'em. But its always fun to play, and if you don't play, you ain't gettin no moles! - KT4HX
Sadly, I suspect their agent in Australia won't be matching that offer.
Current price for an AR152 here is $US1439, compared to the listed Explore Scientific price in the US of $824, and the November price of 824-20% = $US659...
Does anyone else notice a minor price discrepancy here? Kind of makes it hard to support the local supplier!!!
I wonder how much the postage would be. Hmmm

Scopes are 15% off not 20% and only some models. But you should definitely check shipping costs. I ordered my SW SkyTee2 mount (~15lb) from Europe and the shipping by DHL was $36 US.

These 62’s have me curious. Any noticeable difference between it and the 8.8mm 82, aside from the obvious AFOV?

Yeah, on second inspection it looks like only the AR102- although the blurb is a bit misleading.
Unfortunately shipping from the US to Australia is ridiculously expensive. I was quoted over $100 to ship a 150mm mirror cell. I suspect the AR152 would be in the order of $200+
It is a lot cheaper to ship from Europe.
Oh well, I'm just dreaming at this stage anyway...

82 are already very sharp and well corrected. So, lower price for 62 would be the main advantage, since you can get two 62s for the price of one 82.
Smaller form factor and weight, maybe, if you building travel or binoviewer set. If not for the tight eye relief I would definitely pick 62s for my travel set. I am using Celestron X-Cel LX now.
Also, some people prefer narrower FOV.![]()
So far I’ve experienced nicely sharp, contrasts views with this eyepiece. Eye relief seems plentiful, though I do not wear glasses while observing (contacts).
Yeah, narrower AFOV compared to the 8.8mm. Otherwise similar light transmission and correction. And as Andrey said, a much smaller footprint and weight.
All that said, I’ve yet to do a side by side shoot out in a serious fashion. I need to get that done.
I absolutely did not need this eyepiece, but after a peek through a friend’s, it haunted me.![]()

I probably don’t need it either, but I have really started to like that focal length. My 8.8mm has become my second favorite ep (behind the 18mm of course!). I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to have a backup![]()
