Default I have no caps for eyepieces.

    Hi,

I have two eyepieces that have the clear plastic caps for the 1.25 end, but not cap on the exit end. Both are rubbery at the exit end and one is 33.7mm and the other is 35.7mm.

Can I get caps for this end of the eyepiece, or is there something else I could use?

As of yet I don't have anything to hold the eyepieces. When I change eyepieces, I'm finding it convenient to put the removed eyepiece in my pocket. I don't want to have an unguarded eyepiece in my pocket.

You can search on ebay under eyepiece caps for a variety of sizes or get some singular bolt cases from scopestuff.com

I did look for some caps and found the standard caps that fit on the exterior and interior of an eyepiece, but nothing that looked like it would fit the rubber end of an eyepiece. I will look up those suggestions.

I even thought of the old gray plastic film canister with the black plastic top. Years ago there was an unusual purpose, that I don't remember, for those canisters that people wanted them for. In a few places you could actually by the canisters separately.

Those film canisters were sometimes used to modify a webcam for planetary AP and then fit into a standard 1.25" focuser.

Agena sells many different sizes of caps and are sold according to their size in millimeters.

Thanks Ozman. Now I'm finding various eyepiece cases. Just have to look them up by the right name.

You will find a lot of us use this as an eyepiece case. Just make sure the foam is in it. Sometimes it's missing.

One thing people used them for (and still do) are to make inexpensive collimation caps for their newtonian scopes.
