    Default Orion Stratus EP

    Hi guys,

I'm using a Nexstar 8SE and I got this eye piece and was wondering how to fit the 2 inches version into my 2 inches diagonal (ES 2 inches)
When I unscrew the EP to access the 2 inches , it do not fit into the diagonal
Anyone know if I need some king of adapter ?

What focal length eyepiece are you using?
Not sure what you mean by unscrewing the eyepiece, they are either 1.25" or 2" barrels depending on focal length.
If you have a 2" diagonal you remove the 1.25" to 2" adapter and insert the 2" eyepiece or put the adapter in if going from 2" to 1.25"

I would suggest that you use an 1.25 adapter in your diagonal. It should have come with one. If not, they are pretty inexpensive.
You won't gain FOV by trying to use the 2 inch section.
I have the 17mm Stratus. I have never removed the 1.25 inch section.

    Thanks for the feedback.
I have a 1.25 adapter and can use it on the 2 inches diagonal.
I'm using a 13 mm EP and I know that I will not gain FOV with that low FL.
I was just wondering why the 2 inches section of my EP do not fit into the diagonal.

    Regards,

Check and make sure the compression ring in the diagonal is not tipped into the barrel.
Sometimes they can get divots from the set screw.

You are missing the 2" barrel on your eyepiece. The threads that you are showing are not the threads that would accept a 2" filter, they are for the 2" barrel skirt that you are missing. Perhaps you inadvertently unscrewed it along with the 1.25" barrel. You do not need to unscrew anything to use these eyepieces in either configuration, You just drop them into the appropriately sized receiver.

That looks like just the top bit of the eyepiece to me. Many dual fit 2"/1.25" eyepieces have a 1.25" barrel, with a 2" lower body and a fatter bit on top. To use in a 1.25" diagonal, just put the 1.25" barrel into the eyepiece holder.
To use with a 2" diagonal, put the whole thing (including the 1.25" barrel) into the 2" eyepiece holder on the diagonal.
The eyepiece will go further in - the 2" lower body bit will go into the diagonal until it gets to the fatter upper bit (which is what I think you've unscrewed in the photo) - but the 1.25" barrel shoudn't hit the diagonal mirror.

This is not going to help. Your photo only shows the top half of the complete eyepiece. Do you have the lower half with both barrels as seen in the photo that I posted above?
