Default Replacement ES 82 degree 14mm and 11mm on the way

Some of you may remember a thread I started about EOFB in my ES 14mm and also in my 11mm. I had been using them this way for quite a while even though I knew it wasn't right. So, I examined the eyepieces and theorized that there was a bright ring around the edge of the eye element due to the lens edge not being blackened. Some of you even helped by posting pictures of your own eyepieces for comparison and I thank you for that.

I sent the 2 eyepieces back to ES. When I sent them in, ES was out of both the 14 and 11 so it took them a few days to receive their shipment and then compare the 14mm. After examining them and comparing them to new production eyepieces they agreed with me about the likely cause of the EOFB. Since I have a wide range of eyepieces, I decided to wait till they got both replacements in before shipping them to me.

The replacements should ship either today or tomorrow. Looking forward to getting them even though it is supposed to be cloudy for the next 10 days or more.

Glad you have the situation resolved. ES is definitely a company whose word is good. That is always something to consider when buying equipment.

I bought a brand new ED127CF from a well know retailer. When I received it, the focuser was the older style, contacted ES CS and they immediately said " no problem we'll swap it out for you" Really good to know you can count on a company. I thought for sure I was gonna end up screwed on that deal! Nope! They even paid for the shipping! Awesome!

So does that mean you now have a hexagonal focuser?

No, the FCD1 has the hex focuser. This one still had the ball bearing focuser, instead of the rack&opinion style. It was the latest style ED127CF they just updated the focuser about a year ago. The hex focuser version is about $500 more and better optics. Although, I don't see what could be a whole lot better than the optics in mine, without going big money!

Also, doesn't really matter, as I put a moonlight focuser on the scope anyway! But nice to know they are a company that takes care of the customer. I'm not trying to sound like a fanboy or anything, but that's rare nowadays.
