Default Ordered three Vixen Plossl Eyepieces

My wife and two daughters seem to have trouble buying presents for me, so I helped them out this Christmas. I had previously bought the Vixen 8 and 10mm NPL eyepieces and liked them. Looking at the line, I like the organization of focal lengths and saw a way to work out a nice system. So I ordered the 25, 20, and 15mm ones. Now my wife and both daughters can have a present for me that they don't have to shop for or spend their own money. The real gift is that they cooperate with me on this.

With these three eyepieces and my other two, I can use them as they are or in combination with my Siebert Telecentric 4X Barlow (one of the best investments I ever made) to have logical steps in magnification all the way down to the same as using a 2mm eyepiece. I will be staying within a good focal length range for these modified symmetrical eyepieces. They have good contrast, seem to be very sharp, and have good contrast. With the 4X barlow, they will act like they are working with an f/20 scope, and should perform similarly to a good ortho.

Anyway, that is what I am thinking.

Thanks, everyone! I think they will work out well.

I have wondered about the StarSplitters, both the SS2 and SS3 versions. I may have to try one sometime. However, that will have to be the next time I get into an eyepiece feeding frenzy. Right now, it had gone on as far as I dare let it....if you know what I mean!

The three Vixen eyepieces arrived today and they all look really good. The twenty and twenty-five mm eyepieces are a little larger than I had thought they would be. They remind me somewhat of my Meade 5000 Plossles. I do have a bit of a dilemma though. The two larger ones come with a much better and larger eyepiece case than the 15mm, so the two look more expensive than the smaller one. I am a little afraid that one of them might get her feelings hurt by having a lesser eyepiece to give me. I am wondering if I should go ahead and order the 30mm one so that they will all have that nice case and larger size to go with the other two.

    What do you think?
