    Default Hyperion Clickstop-Zoom repair

    Hi everyone,

I´ve read that this issue of getting stuck happens quite often with these EPs. I couldn´t however find any guide how to dissasemble & repair it.

I´ve managed to take apart the top part and now I´m not sure how to proceed.

    Any ideas?

    Regards,
    Martin

As I was unable to dissasemble & repair the EP, I decided to send it to Baader Germany for repair. Total cost was around 70€, therefore still managable.

I was unhappy with the thick grease on mine, it being hard to turn in cold weather and the balls that create the click-stops weren't working firmly. I started to open the thing up to re-lubricate it but I backed off after getting about half-way in. There is more to the assembly than I thought and I decided the issue wasn't worth the risk. I once worked in a camera repair shop and discovered that the threads on focus rings and zoom rings can be multi-start which must be replaced in the same orientation as they were, and can be quite difficult to start. Also, sometimes special assembly fixtures were used at the factory and without them getting things back together can be a real challenge. You were probably wise to leave this to the factory.
