    Default Baader Hyperion 31mm and 36mm first light.

    So as some may know I recently completed my e/p setup with the Baader hyperions 31mm and 36mm.
    Last night was my first night of observing anything since the Mercury transit.
    Conditions were perfect here in Norwich England.
    My observations with these e/p are in comparison with my previous low power e/p's the Skywatcher Panaviews which are a great e/p for their price.
    When upgrading an e/p you always wonder if the improvement in views will justify the price rise which in this case was about £60-£70 more for each e/p. I am happy to report that in this case I am well happy with the upgrade and definitely noticed an improvement.
    First their size, these e/p's are quite small compared to the coke can sized panaviews and were not very heavy considering there power.
    The first object I viewed had to be m31, and because it was high in the sky I sore the best view ive ever had, it seemed more well defined than the usual fuzzy smear. It was a prefect sight complimented by a satellite and then a Perseid streaking across the 72 degree fov.
    Next I couldn't resist the double cluster and wow I sat looking at it for longer than I normally would. It really was a treat and easily fitted both clusters into the 36mm. It was best observed through the 31mm which showed a treasure trove of gem stones. Again the best ive seen this object.
    I viewed many objects this session and each was a real treat through these e/p's.
    I really am pleased with these e/p's and the crystal clear wide fov they provided in my 8"sct, I would highly recommend them to anyone with a similar setup.
    Scope = Celestron CPC800 8"sct. Sky-watcher Heritage 130p flex tube Dobsonian Binoculars = Helios Ultima 10x50 porro prism.
    Eyepieces = Baader Hyperion Aspheric 31mm and 36mm. Baader Hyperion 8mm, 13mm, 17mm, 21mm and 24mm.
    Diagonal = 2" Altair dielectric diagonal.

    Congratulations on the new eyepieces. I have the 36mm Hyperion and absolutely love it. At f/8 I think I'd be hard pressed to beat it with anything less than a 31T5 or 30mm ES 82*. In my old f/7 scope it was very hard to beat the views also. In fact, the best views I ever had of the North American and Pelican Nebulae, and the entire Cygnus Loop complex in one FOV was with the 36mm and my old 102ED (along with filters). I've never used it in shorter f/l's though, but at moderate to long f/l's you shouldn't have to spend anymore money, unless you want wider than 70*.
