Default New addition to my EP collection

I am building my high power EP collection to use with ES 102 APO for planets and double splitting.

Please, welcome 2 new members: Epic and Zz. I hope Epic will be as good as it's name

I've actually considered both of those EPs for the ES 102 APO but still my shortest EP is the ES 6.7mm 82 which I barlow at times. Now I'm kind of leaning toward the ES 4.7mm 82 but I also don't have the 8.8mm either. What to do?

102 APO is really built for power. Most of the time I am using ES 4.7 (which does wonders in this scope) even on galaxies, and craving for more power. I have barlowed 6.7mm productively on Mars and Saturn, but just do not like to observe with barlow. I feel 3.5mm should be consistently good and 3mm to push on good nights.

So for 102 APO I would definitely suggest ES 4.7 over ES 8.8.

Congrats Bigz! Is that one of the Orion's with the Lanthanum glass? I've been curious about those. Looking forward to hearing how those perform for you.

OH...edited to add: There's a Nag 3.5 currently listed on AstroMart.

They say 6 element design - 2 ED elements. It has this pinkish-yellowish shine of expensive glass

    Nice EPs!

I have the AR102 and I've definitely pushed it with a vintage 3.8mm Ultrascopic. It handles the magnification pretty well, so long as the sky is relatively stable. Your f/7 APO will get a bit more magnification in that focal length. Anyway, looking forward to a first light report on both those little gems.

    Cheers,
    Jerry

I saw it . Is it completely unrealistic to get a used one in ~$150 range? Maybe older model? Did volcano top Naglers come in 3.5mm? They seems to sell in ~$100 range

Perhaps just a little. I did get lucky and find a couple of mine around $190 though. I'm not sure on the volcano's.

I keep wondering if perhaps the next offering of DeLites may offer a 3mm, as they did in the Radians. I know a lot of folks are wishing for one.

Then I may get 4mm Radian instead, or maybe Epic 3.7mm I got will be really epic! .

Right, most of TV lines offer EPs in 3mm range and since DeLites replacing Radians it would be logical to have FL shorter than 5mm.
