Default If You Ain't Livin' On The Edge, You Ain't Livin'

Yesterday my ES 82* 6.7mm showed up, which promptly received a first light last night due to a rare situation where a high pressure system is stuck over the Great Lakes giving us a string of warm, clear days and nights. I also got paid yesterday, and after evaluating the 6.7mm last night and deciding it's most definitely a keeper I got up this morning and hit the order button on the 4.7mm! Boy, am I screwed when the cloud devils find out what I've been up to! The 4.7mm will be my high power planet killer for my 4.5" f/8 newt on nights where seeing allows. In the past I've been able to use my 4mm Olivon on Saturn quite a few times and get good results at 225x magnification. I've even been able to do this on a few occasions with Jupiter which seems a bit more sensitive to seeing conditions. I figured the 191x offered by the 4.7 would give solid results on those good nights that do occasionally happen around here and probably be usable a bit more often than the 225x offered by a 4mm. I'm not really filling gaps so much as I am upgrading my existing options, the 6.7 and 4.7 ought to do a good job covering most of the same area that my 6, 5, and 4mm Olivons covered. I now intend to save money towards the 12mm Delos, which will be a mid range option in my small scope and serve as a high power EP in the big one.

If you ain't living on the edge, you are simply taking up too much room.

I'm calling the ES warehouse or I'm driving down there. And I'm asking if they can start shipping a box full of these clouds with each of these eyepieces. Everybody ordering, and I'm the one clouding.

    Congrats on the glass, bubba.

I'm trying to keep pace with ya, Wings. I just ordered an ES 82° 18mm. Hmmm, I just thought of something. Last year at this time, I would have thought I was describing a gun if I could have seen this post back then.

Have fun with your clouds when they figure it out, I'm sure they will split up and some will head this way too once they find out what the both of us have been up to with the BUY buttons.

Hey, I avoided busting the bubble wrap on my scope, that should give me some credit I would think ?!? No ? No, I guess not. Clouds have no feelings, except glee when they tick us off, which is whenever they're around.

Nice addition to the toolbox, Wings.

I got the 6.7 mm during the most recent sale and tried it out on my AR102 last night. It gave me a very nice view of Saturn and a couple of smaller globs. I was impressed. I wasn't planning to spring for the 4.7 mm but maybe you can convince me!
