Default Any advantage of having Pentax XW over Delos?

I know from forums that both Pentax XW and Delos are highly regarded EP lines. They seems to have same FOV, eye relief, and similar weight. Most of FL overlap and used prices are in the same range.

Are there any advantages of going for one over another?

Very easy, do you prefer black & gold or black & green with your scope?
Both are top end eyepieces and you would not regret either series.

Which is heads and which is tails? I agree, both are top of the line.

I've only once viewed through an XW for a short time, and optically it was pristine. The only thing that would sway me to the Delos would be the feel of eye placement / eye cup comfort. The Delos was just more comfortable to my eye. But that was perhaps just me being used to the Delos.

I always thought a beaut collection for my 12" Dob would be the XWs 5,7,10,14(with Paracorr),20(with Paracorr) complemented by Delos 6,8,12,17.3. Really you'd probably only need one set and half of that again (I mostly use the 17.3, 10 Delos and the XW7)! For the combo of eye relief and lovely tight contrasty immersive images it's hard to beat.

I was in a similar quandary myself before getting my Delos. Everything I read between the two seemed like a dead even split. I think the final choice of the Delos was due to Wingsfan81's first light report. I guess he was the coin in my coin flip and landed on Delos!

I am also thinking Delos. Apparently, 14 and 20mm XW have field curvature issues in fast scopes. I have F10 and F5 scopes so Delos seems to be a better fit.

According to CN feedback 3.5 to 10mm XW don't seems to suffer from this problem. So if I will ever be looking for premium EPs in shorter FL I will give XW another look.

My Delos sure isn't going anywhere! I already have a space in my case reserved for the 12mm!

Both are great, and I use each.
In the higher mags, Pentax has the odd mils - 5 and 7
while Delos has the evens - 6 and 8.
You can purchase exactly the mags you want at top quality.

I should amend my previous post too. The 14 and 20 with Paracorr bring them very close to the same magnifications as the 17.3 and 12 Delos. Perhaps there isn't really a need for both sets here unless you can live with the field curvature each of these Pentax XWs has (which the Paracorr corrects). At the higher end I love the odds and evens mix :-)
