Default ES 82° Series is Complete

Well, I just had one more ES 82° eyepiece left to acquire to have the complete set.

Today, my wife and I went out to do a bit of shopping. She wanted to go to Hobby Lobby (arts and crafts supply store), and since the Explore Scientific store is right across the parking lot next to the Harbor Freight...

While she was in Hobby Lobby, I meandered over to ES to have a poke around. I asked the young man at the counter if they had any 6.7mm eyepieces on their Silver Grade program, and he said, maybe, but he didn't have access to them and I should call Customer Service on Monday. He'd be happy to sell me at brand new one at the full price of $149.99 plus sales tax.

Hmm. I walked around a bit and looked at the scopes, and then left the store. I was a bit dejected. I thought maybe I'd get an amazing Silver Grade deal.

Anyway, I walked back over to Hobby Lobby and found my wife and told her about the eyepiece.

When we left that store, I mentioned the scopes over there. I asked if she'd like to go look at them. She said sure.

So we go in and I showed her the refractors and the truss dobs. She went over to the counter and asked the guy about the 6.7mm eyepiece. He gave her the same spiel I got. She started hammering him with questions and the next thing I know he was selling us the eyepiece for $105.00, tax included.

Wow! I need to take my wife astronomy shopping more often! She was amazing. I'm still grinning.

So that completes the set for me. Should be able to get a first light tonight!

Nice collection of ES glass. Hope I get many of those in my collection before I pass, 25 years or so!

Very nice! I'm glad you finally got to fill all the empty spots in that case. Although I can't help but notice there's still a little room in there.
