Default Which Barlow for 14" Dob for planetary?

I just got a 14" dob and I hope to be able to continue and improve on my planetary imaging. I was using a celestron 2x barlow but sold it and will need a new one.

I have a good range of eye pieces so I don't feel it is imperative to get a 2x to double my range(though I probably will at some point). I'd like to have a barlow that enables me to get the most possible detail in my images.

I am thinking I want a televue 5x, but hoped to get some input as there are a lot of intricacies I'm sure I'm overlooking.

If it helps, this is a XX14g with a Neximage Burst Color.

    Thanks for your input!

Not sure about the 5x barlow for imaging as I pretty much do all visual and wouldn't use anything stronger than a 2x for my purposes. This 2x barlow gets pretty good reviews, though.

5x is a bit much. I would not go over 3x doing planetary imaging. Tele vue Powermates rock. If that's not in your budget then maybe back to a Celestron X-Cel 2x or 3x?

If you already have a good short range EP getting 5x or 3x barlow may not be productive, since on planets you can't typically push above 300-400x.

I don't know about the 14" but I can tell you that a 5x will drive you insane!

Read my experience with a 3x in this thread.
