Default Finally happy with my EP case layout

I've been tinkering with my eyepiece case layout for a while and I think I finally got it right. I've concluded that it will always be a work in progress, but I'm ok with that.

I have two Harbor Freight cases for my non-optical accessories (cables, dew heaters, power inverters, etc.) but decided to go with a Pelican case for the EPs because they became quite an investment!

Looks great Glenn! Those Pelicans are really nice cases.

Here is my HF case. Not too dissimilar a layout from yours.

    That's because I copied you!

When you posted that pic a while back, your layout looked like it would work great for me, too, since we have some of the same gear. I just finally got around to doing it.

Nice work. I went through about 5 sets of foam since I started carrying my eyepieces in a case. Before a foam lined case, I used to just carry them in the original boxes in a tote. Recently I got tired of having to dry out the entire case, foam and eyepieces after a session so I put them all in bolt cases and did away with the foam. Now I can just leave the case open when I take it inside and only need to dry the individual eyepieces I used that night. I keep track of which eyepieces I used during a session by placing them upside down in the case after use.

I also have 3 cases, 2 I have had a long time and don't even remember where I got them and the one I use for eyepieces is from HF. When I close the HF case, I use a velcro strap all the way around to make sure it stays closed and another to give extra support to the handle while I carry it.

Attached is a pic of the eyepiece case. You want a chuckle, the "container" for the 50mm is actually an old shampoo bottle. I washed it out, cut off the neck and taped closed the hole inside and out, cut it in half, then used a heatgun to expand one end so it would fit over the other end. I have a bolt case for it too but ran out of room and couldn't fit it in the eyepiece case.

That's a great looking setup, Dennis. The bolt cases are a very nice solution that I did not know existed until I received an EP that was shipped in one. Your clear labeling makes everything easy to find, which is a boon in the dark. Clever use of a shampoo bottle, too. Well done, sir.

I think I just bought the same case as yours At this point I have plenty of room so I am using foam insert, but now I know what to do once I start to run out of space
