    Default Eyepiece maintenance

New to astronomy. I would like to know how to maintain my eyepieces to get the maximum use out of them. Specifically, what's the best way to clean them (especially in the field)? I have heard that if you aren't careful you can trash the coatings. How real of a threat is this? and what should I definitely avoid?

Quality EP's coatings are very tough, and in normal use would be very hard to damage. My personal practices include nothing but a quality micro-fiber cleaning cloth. And possibly a little breath on them if I notice some eyelash smears or such on them. Many recommend a bulb type blower to remove any dust etc., and some a 'lens pen' cleaner, but I've personally never used one.

    Lens pens in use here.
I have long eyelashes, so I tend to need to clean often.

(J/K. But I do seem to need to clean often.
So I use a Lens Pen.)
