How about getting the Baader Hyperion 2.25X barlow instead. It will give you 6 new EPs not just one!

No excuses required. I ordered the entire ES 82* series, a 2" Focal Extender, and a new Zhumell Z10 just because I turned fifty.

Fifty years of doing anything, even if it's just breathing, deserves something special.

I second the suggestion of getting the barlow instead. You'll double your collection.

There was a game show over here titled 1 vs. 100, with the 100 being affectionately called "the mob". Well in this case "the mob" says go for it!

I have 2 excuses, 1; I don't like using a Barlow so I "need" a wide range of eyepieces to have a selection for deep space and planetary and lunar. 2; having 4 scopes aimed at different uses, i have to have a range of eyepieces that work in each scope.

Maybe its early and the coffee has not did its thing for my brain...
BUT I see you have a CPC800 ...a 5 mm eyepiece will yield 406x in your scope...

YOU may use that eyepiece once every 3 years on a Tuesday evening from 11 PM till midnight IF YOU ARE LUCKY.....So at last to me in my current mental state I think you are totally wasting your money you will just about never use the thing EXCEPT to do the second and final step in collimation using only the single ring around the airy disc BUT even 406x is on the low side for that purpose I use an old 4 mm myself for doing the second step on collimation WHEN the seeing is good enough to even bother with the second and final step in collimating a SCT

BTW... I happen to use my Focal Reducer the vast majority of the time because I'm no lunatic (lunar observer) so do not usually view much above 200x ...

And as for needing an excuse... Screw That...I just do it and forget about it...
