    Default Baader Hyperion Aspheric Eyepieces

Does any one have experience with the Baader Hyperion Aspheric eyepieces? I'm looking at the 31mm for my EdgeHD as a piece between the 40 Plossl that came with the scope and the Hyperion zoom. It also has the benefit of a wider FOV. Any thoughts?

    Hello !
I use it with the Baader coma-corrector, and my 12" dobson. Works fine, clear and sharp (when clouds permit ! :roll eyes: )
    Love it

In scopes of f/7 and longer I feel the Hyperions are wonderful eyepieces. They work very well in my 6" f/8 refractor and I'd imagine would be great in you SCT.

    Hello Asterion,

I have had Baader Hyperion Aspheric 31mm, and it is really a very good eyepiece for the slower scopes. The aspheric lens element improves the performace towards the edge of the field.

    Best,

I have the 31mm aspheric eyepiece for an f/5 Dob. While I don't use it much, preferring a 24mm ES because of my exit pupil size, it does perform quite well. There is a limited amount of coma around the edges, as JG mentioned above.

It's good to know that it works well with slower scopes like mine. I'll see if I can pick one up the next payday.

    Hi Asterion,

You might want to consider the 36mm Baader Aspheric. I started out with the 31 then bought the 36 with plans to sell the 31. They both work well with the slow sct. The 36 does not noticeably vignette in my 8SE and provides more field of view.

Let us know how it goes.

I have a number of Baader Hyperions including the zoom and they all worked good in my C11. However, a little over a year ago I bought a Explore Scientific 30mm 82° and a 20mm 100° and all my Hyperion's outside of the zoom pretty much just sit in my eyepiece case when I'm using my C11. I do use the Hyperions with my smaller scope which only use 1.25" eyepieces.

If you going to get a Hyperion, now is the time while they are still on sale.
